This development is a significant move toward digitizing educational services in Uganda. Accessible through UNEB’s e-services portal (eservices.uneb.ac.ug), the system requires applicants to upload scanned copies of key documents.
The key documents including the introductory letter from their former school addressed to the UNEB Executive Director, a valid identity card, and a police letter for cases of loss or damage. Payment varies depending on the type of verification - 50,000 UGX for an ordinary letter, 100,000 UGX for a hard card substitute certificate, and 300,000 UGX for special or political verifications. As they are elaborated in a post on the π platform official Account.
These fees can be paid via Airtel/MTN mobile money or bank deposits, with guidelines provided during the application.
UNEB has stated that the process takes approximately five days after payment and document submission, with applicants receiving a sample code (e.g., W002) to track their application.
The initiative has been praised for its convenience, as UNEB no longer issues duplicate certificates, making the Letter of Verification the official replacement document.

This digital service underscores UNEB’s commitment to modernizing its operations, though public feedback indicates a need for expanded support, including faster document releases and provisions for updating personal details on academic records.
